Focusing on patients

At Vifor Pharma, we put patients first. We strive to understand the needs of patients and to support them in the best way possible. We have identified two focus areas within the Responsibility pillar PATIENTS.

Focus area: Patient Need & Support

We seek direct dialogue with patients and their representative bodies to understand their health needs and to provide them with meaningful support. A range of internal measures helps us to live up to our patient-focused commitment.

Measures include:

  • Patient perspective: Vifor Pharma engages in a variety of projects and programmes where patients get to share their views and experiences.
  • Patient tools and services: Vifor Pharma supports a number of information tools and platforms, that provide patients with relevant information and assistance.
  • Patient organisations: Wherever appropriate, Vifor Pharma provides selected patient organisations with financial or in-kind support, preferably to specific projects that facilitate the work of the organisation or are to the direct benefit of patients.

Focus area:Access to Healthcare

For a variety of reasons, patients often don’t have access to the treatment they need. This may be due to bureaucratic hurdles, affordability, natural disasters or poor local health policy. Vifor Pharma is determined to contribute to enhanced access to medicines for underserved patients.

Measures include:

  • Access programmes: Vifor Pharma Group runs a number of patient access programmes that help patients receive the right treatment.
  • Individual funding: Vifor Pharma responds to individual funding requests for medicines in special circumstances, helping patients who would otherwise not have access to the right treatment.
  • Access in emergency situations: Vifor Pharma may choose to provide ad-hoc access to medicines and support in emergency situations, such as natural disasters.
